چکیده

dered if guidance cue-induced changes in NFPC protein synthesis may play a role here. Interestingly, stimulating cultured growth cones with Sema3A, a repellent molecule expressed in telencephalic regions adjacent to the MOT, elevates NFPC protein twofold within 10 min. Therefore, we now postulate a growth cone turning mechanism involving Sema3A-induced increases in TAF1mediated NFPC activity at the MOT choice point.

The newly identified migration inhibitory protein regulates the radial migration in the developing neocortex

Neuronal migration is a crucial process in the organization of the developing cerebral cortex. Although a number of positive regulatory mechanisms of radial migration have been identified, negative cell-autonomous mechanisms have yet to be fully described. Here we report a newly identified Migration Inhibitory Protein (MINP, formerly known as 2900011O08Rik) that negatively regulates radial migr...

RET PLCγ Phosphotyrosine Binding Domain Regulates Ca2+ Signaling and Neocortical Neuronal Migration

The receptor tyrosine kinase RET plays an essential role during embryogenesis in regulating cell proliferation, differentiation, and migration. Upon glial cell line-derived neurotrophic factor (GDNF) stimulation, RET can trigger multiple intracellular signaling pathways that in concert activate various downstream effectors. Here we report that the RET receptor induces calcium (Ca(2+)) signaling...

LKB1 regulates neuronal migration and neuronal differentiation in the developing neocortex through centrosomal positioning.

The cerebral cortex is formed through the coordination of highly organized cellular processes such as neuronal migration and neuronal maturation. Polarity establishment of neurons and polarized regulation of the neuronal cytoskeleton are essential for these events. Here we find that LKB1, the closest homolog of the Caenorhabditis elegans polarity protein Par4, is expressed in the developing neo...

Zac1 regulates cell cycle arrest in neuronal progenitors via Tcf4.

Imprinted genes play a critical role in brain development and mental health, although the underlying molecular and cellular mechanisms remain incompletely understood. The family of basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) proteins directs the proliferation, differentiation, and specification of distinct neuronal progenitor populations. Here, we identified the bHLH factor gene Tcf4 as a direct target gene ...

Cdk5-dependent Mst3 phosphorylation and activity regulate neuronal migration through RhoA inhibition.

The radial migration of newborn neurons is critical for the lamination of the cerebral cortex. Proper neuronal migration requires precise and rapid reorganization of the actin and microtubule cytoskeleton. However, the underlying signaling mechanisms controlling cytoskeletal reorganization are not well understood. Here, we show that Mst3, a serine/threonine kinase highly expressed in the develo...
